Inshorts wins IAMAI’s ‘Best Innovative App’ award

Mobile news app Inshorts, which provides news summaries in 60 words, has won the IAMAI (Internet And Mobile Association of India) ‘Best Innovative Mobile App of the year’ award. The app, launched on September 4, 2013 by Azhar Iqubal, Anunay Arunav and Deepit Purkayastha, is currently the highest rated news app on Play Store. Available in both English and Hindi, Inshorts has more than 3 million downloads serving more than a billion page views every month.


Backed by Tiger Global, Rebright Partners, Sachin & Binny Bansal of Flipkart and angel investors Ankush Nijhawan, Gaurav Bhatnagar and Manish Dhingra, the app recently launched ‘TOSS‘, a social notification feature which allows users of Inshorts to send notifications to other users of Inshorts in their contact list. The feature is currently available on Android only and will be rolled out in iOS soon.
